Ice Fishing Near Pocatelo??
#1
Alright boys and girls, I've talked the misses into a weekend trip to see some friends in Poky, and I'll be ice fishing. I'm not sure where to go though. I'm kind of leaning towards Chesterfield, but it sounds like there's just a bunch of little guys there this year.... Anybody have any ideas? Can a guy get into Blackfoot? Is there still ice on Montpelier? Is the D-word any good? Any advice would be welcomed, and PMs are OK too if you don't want to hotspot, and of course I'll post a report after we go. I'm not picky about the species, I just want to catch something - but if it's a big something, that would be better [Wink]....
It'll be sweet to be fishing in the motherland again, I'm still not sold on this Washington thing yet...

I went to Chesterfield on Monday. Probably landed 50 to 60 fish, all from 10 to 14 inches. Had to big slabs on, lost one in hole other I never saw but could feel he was big. Lake was all solid even around the edges. We went way North up the lake, But next time I would probably go down the boat ramp hang a right towards the dam go out about 100 feet and camp out there. One guy that was there had one five pounder and a 18 incher not bad. Still the big ones are few and far between this year.

If you want to do catching instead of fishing Montpelier is the place. Trout aren't huge, but guarenteed you will get a mess of perch with some koks mixed in, I love that place.

Thanks for the report! I suspect we'll end up at Chesterfield since that used to be one of my favorite ice fishing lakes. Although I wouldn't mind catching a herd of perch... Did you get any decent ones at Montpelier or were they all dinks?
