PV report
#1
Fished from dawn until about 5pm. Fishing was steady for dink perch and a few dink crappie . Was hoping to find some larger slabs, but this would not be the day. Fished near Browning Point and in the Narrows.

Thanks for posting your report Justin. Sounds about the same as I did on Thursday, not the big numbers that people were catching a few weeks ago but they are still biting. I was fishing by the dock on the port ramp and a guy that had been there since 7am pull up a 40" tiger on 4 lb test, he said iot took him 30 min. I arrived later but he showed me a pic of the big boy, nice for sure[cool]. Were you walking or riding while moving around?

Do you think those big Tiger Muskies are actually trying to eat small perch/crappie rigs?

My hunch is that a lot of them are hooked when they swoop in on a perch or crappie that is staring at the perch/crappie rig. They miss (or maybe don't miss) the perch/crappie and end up with the small jig in their mouth.

Ice was solid in the morning and started to get a little soft later in the day, but not really any slush.

[#800000]Went there myself and caught well over 100 perch (kept 40). Road all over the middle bay on my snowsled between Browning Point, Cemetary Point, and the Port Ramp and there was NO slush on Friday. [Smile][/#800000]

There is no doubt, at least IMO, they are going for the jig or you would see them snaged more than you do but when they are hooked in the corner of the mouth, where most of them are hooked, I do believe they are going for the jig. Of course it would be nice to hear what other think on the subject.

Interesting they snack on such small offerings. Where I'm from very large catfish are frequently caught through the ice, 10-15lbs and occasionally they are caught on a small jig with a waxie. I know big fish will eat small stuff when they don't have to chase it all over to get it. Nothin' like an easy meal, no matter how big or small.

Yeah I would also be interested in hearing what people think.

To the original poster - thanks for sharing the report.

[#0000FF]I don't fish purposely for tiger muskies, but I have caught several...all on small jigs being fished for perch or crappies...all year round.

Here is a pic of a 34 incher I caught right on the bottom in 45 feet of water. The jig was well inside its mouth...and I landed it on 6# line after a hard fight and a couple of jumps.
