Had a great day down to Fish Lake last weekend. Four of us caught 104 Rainbow and splake. We don't count perch. There were alot of people fishing on the ice that day, but it was a nice sunny day.[fishin]

Sounds like you had a great day. Any size to them? I was down there a week ago and caught about a 20 in. Splake, one of the bigger ones in a while.

Headed down the 7th of March. So any info on Ice thickness and access would be appreciated. We usually take a quad and have been fortunate to get it on the ice but I've always seen a potential to not have the access for the quad. Please post a report or pm me when you get back. Thanks .

Fish Lake has a weed bed that pretty much encircles the lake. It goes out to about 20 - 30' of water.

You have numerous options to choose from in order to catch fish at Fish Lake:

1. fish shallow, in or very close to the weed line. Perch keep to the weeds. Small splake also tend to hang near the weed line. You never know when a large fish (splake, lake trout, tiger musky) will be cruising the shallows looking for a meal.

2. Fish outside the weeds (30 feet +). Mostly targeting splake and rainbows. Rainbows are more often caught suspended. Splake can be either on the bottom or suspended.

3. Fish deep (60 - 100 feet). Fishing deep water on the bottom gives you the best chance at larger lake trout -- although, you just never know. You can also fish suspended (20 feet?) for rainbows.

Good luck. Lots of options. It all depends on what you want.
