jordanelle with kids?
#1
i'm going to be taking my young daughters ice fishing on saturday and i am by no means a good ice fisherman. they get bored quickly so i was thinking jordanelle(want to aviod utah lake and get in to some clear air) for some perch action? if i can keep em on some fish, no matter what kind or size, they wont lose interest. any one have any recent reports and whats working there? i usually just use ice flies tipped with wax worms but i suck at ice fishing. any help? thanks....

There were a couple posts from a week or so ago. I heard they did well off the point east of the boatramp and the main park and then off rock cliffs for perch. They werent big but plentiful. Here is a link to one of the posts.

I was there a few weeks ago and we caught perch. They were dinks and the bite was subtle. We fished from the main state park just to the west in the cove 50' of water. Went back the next day fished in 20' of water with the same results. We tipped our small jigs with mealies.

Every time we have gone to Jordanelle this year 15-25 ft holds ooodles and gobs of perch 1- 11 1/2 inch perch and tons of 3-6 inch perch. Honestly drop down a jig tipped with a waxie to the bottom crank up one full crank and you will have one on... its pretty fast and furious, but if its not more 10 feet and you will be on them!

Bassinet or
We fished north of Hailstone yesterday afternoon. It was slower than normal and smaller than normal. Large perch for the day was. 9". If I were taking young ones I would go to Pineview. However we did not start until 11:00 and it felt like we were on the tail end of the bite. Ran into Perchinski at the ramp he concurred on the bite. He was trying to help some newbies connect on perch. Nice to meet another member and kudos to him for helping other anglers. We tried to get on Rockport first it was floating. Bring a plank for it. Jordanele at hailstone still has tight edges.
Green rat finkes size 8 on a dropper below a cast master tipped with perch meat was the best.m

Jazz perch
It broke about 2' out, very thin. There was a patch of snow at the ramp and some clumps of mud at the pwc ramp I used to access the ice. Planks would be wise as it appears they are now filling like crazy. There were several people fishing however no machines in site.
