First time, I would say early on the ice and near the ladders. Easy on/off the ice, safe conditions. I have had luck with a gold kastmaster small, with a waxy worm or night-crawler or chartreuse turbo dough powerbait. Also what works there are small crawdad patterns in pink and orange. They are going to be smaller trout but there are a bunch there. Fish it close to the bottom, jig it fast and hard for 2 seconds and wait still for a bit. No bite, try again. They like the flash and sound to bring them in for a closer look but get scared if you do it right next to them. No bites in 10 minutes, move and try again. Get a consistent bite and stay put.

I don't know if this helps anyone or not, but nobody replied yet. Good luck! Put the little ones back....

I know little of the berry in comparison to many here. I would suggest searching past posts to get a better idea of the wide possibilities of effective ice techniques/lures at the berry.

When I have gone, the cutthroats were right on the bottom. Drop a tubejig tipped with meat to the bottom, and work up from there. White often works on them. Many are a bit hook-shy and may short-bite your lure. Pause before setting the hook if this is happening.

Rainbows are not much different there than anywhere else. Standard setups work.

We fished it hard and heavy last weekend and great success. All were slot cutts with a 4lb rainbow and a kokanee! Total fish landed was around 35 between the 3 of us. Fished 20-28 fow. They schooled 8-12, 16-20, and on the bottom. If you aren't catching anything try different depths. The best bite was from 12:30 -3:30, which surprises me. I would give the jig a few BIG rips and I would see the fish school on the flasher. The cutts were hungry and super aggressive towards active jigging. After a few BIG rips dead stick it and if there is fish nearby they will give it a bite.

Best fishing happened on a blaze orange swedish pimple #2 tipped with a mill worm, or something the same size (3/4 inch in length) that was glow in the dark.

Good luck to ya!
