Greetings, Big Fish Tackle Folks! Steelhead Season on The Upper Salmon River is here. IDFG issued their first weekly report last Monday and Report #2 will be out later today. The ice is coming off the river down to about Wagonhammer.
The Deadwater ice jam once extended to within a couple of miles of Salmon in January but it has shrunk and now extends "only" to a point about half mile below Wagonhammer. Local speculation things Deadwater may break up within a week or two.
We've made some new partnerships this winter so we can provide better coverage of river and fishing conditions during this Steelhead Season. We hope to do a MUCH better job on our coverage than we did last fall. We already have quite a bit of stuff posted on the Salmon River Idaho website. http:// http://www.salmonriveridaho.net/
The NOAA Weather Spotter in Salmon, Idaho, provided some truly great river ice pictures yesterday and we got them posted this morning. You're gonna love lookin' at 'em:

Meanwhile, the Mgmt. of The Village At North Fork http://thevillageatnorthfork.com/ took some photos a couple of hours ago show just exactly what it looks like at the North Fork boat ramp. VERY cool photos and we are very grateful to The Village At North Fork for providing these pictures:

Just scroll down through the website for more stuff and stay tuned for the weekly report today. We're going to try to get it posted within 30 minutes of when it appears.
Have a great day and Happy Fishing! John Parsons, Salmon River News
