The Warrior Princess and I decided to play hooky from work Friday and make what could be the last ice trip to Starvation. We launched from Rabbit Gulch and proceeded to one of our GPS settings. The perch were so thick on the vex it made a false bottom on the zoom. It is an early morning bite, we were fishing by 8 and the bite slowed to a crawl by 11. We fished 48' of water and did not land a single bow. A group fishing south of us got into the trout in shallower water. Perch were caught on a variety of lures including a Rapala jigging minnow however the best was a #6 green rat finke 18 " above a kast master with a tiny perch fry below. Gazillas and gizzy bugs in orange were third place trumped by a rat finke with a green rattling varmint below. Moved about 1:00 to the wall north of the bridge. NADA. Drove around Indian bay it was quiet. Finished the day at the head of the gulch in 13 FOW looking for a trout. Not to be. I think an early bite is typical this time of year. As we were leaving the ice our 4 wheeler broke the edge. Nobody got wet however it will notZ be long at this temp. 28* when we started 44* when we left.g
