Soldier Creek - March 15th
#1
Three of us went fishing on the Soldier Creek side of Strawberry. We were on the ice at 7:30. Fishing was slow today & and the fish we caught were mainly very small rainbows 10 - 12 inches. We fished until 5:00 p.m. The weather was wonderful - wore 2 shirts most of the day. I believe we caught around 32 fish between the 3 of us. Some of us moved 4 times, others moved 8 times. We fished anywhere from 11 to 40 feet of water. Started out east of the boat ramp and ended up a couple of miles up in the narrows.

Ice is a good 18 -20 inches thick. As the day warmed up the snow on the surface melted and turned to slush and water. Slush in some areas was about 8-inches deep and very difficult to ride through. I pulling my fishing tent 25 feet behind my ATV & it was covered. When I got back to my truck, for some reason the sled was full of water & slush and flooded my new Marcum fish finder and my tackle box. Fish finder is full of water - won't make that mistake again.

I think todays trip ended the ice fishing season for me this year.
