Willard
#1
So I am going to be up in SLC this weekend and was wondering if it would be worth bringing my boat? I live in Delta and don't get up there much so not real familiar with Willard. Also from a boat how should I fish? Bottom bouncer, lures, not sure. Thanks

[#0000FF][cool]My personal suggestion is to leave the boat home and save some money and frustration.

March is not the most fisherman-friendly month on Willard. Walleyes are still in spawn mode and not all that catchable during daylight hours. Wipers are still chilled. They don't get active until water temps are quite a bit higher. Too early for much crappie action. Some catfish but not as much as when the water warms.

May is the magic month on Willard. Walleyes are on a post spawn feeding binge. Crappies and wipers are cruising the shorelines and protected bays (if the water levels are up) for their spawns. Catfish are on a prespawn feeding frenzy. And carp are rolling in the shallows for arrow flingers.

Watch the board for improving reports and come on back with your questions if you are able to make it up at a better time.

You would do better fishing from shore than bringing a boat up. Been out there twice this week in a boat a zip both days. Water temp was up to 56* today and dead calm but I think the fish are closer to shore than out in the lake, at least the biting fish[Wink].
