There are no walleye in the bear river .

It's like telling a bunch of kids to go snipe hunting at night !

Stick to the inlet at Willard , I here you just have to cast in and jerk and your fish on!

Pretty slow goen on the Cache Bear for me. I think the eyes have migrated upstream I sure cant find them this time of year. Come May they will start to bite. The cats move into the warmer sloughs but I couldn't get anything to bite yesterday. I think I'll try the trout for a couple weeks. Later J

I'm thinking he just forgot to add the Winking Smiley face[Wink], he is likely trying to keep the heat off his favorite eye fishing location.[:/].

think you're onto it. But did he say there were jerks fishing Willard inlet?

I've been trying to explore more of the Bear, in search of - as well as hitting spots I've heard of have caught them (ok, no plural there.....).

Sure would like to know where they do gather up that there is public access to. But - that's not a give-away folks are likely to share, that know.

Figured I'd head north, so last Thursday trecked up river, hit spots in Benson, on my way to Smithfield, then ventured through Amalga up to Lewiston. Nice stretch of river along Bear Bottoms - but all I found for fish was a pod of slurpy carp (ok, so that was fun, but not what I was after).

Think it's time to crack out the boat, and head for a float - find the rocky shores, eddy pools, and connecting waters. It's just tough to know where you can GET to the river where it loops through farmland, private properties/roads, etc. But - hey - it's fun to get lost and try!
(if anyone has any pointers or tips, or willing to run around together . . . promise to keep it "mum")
