Fished Provo boat Harbor today .I am a rookie for sure at Utah lake . Only caught 1 10" crappie and a bunch (about 12) of rocky mountain bonefish . What is it with me . I always hook up carp on jigs and lures . Still put up a good fight and got the sore arm from these brutes .Only one broke my 10# line . Fished green jigs and crappie hit a 3" tube jig . Crappie is fillet , vacuumed packed and in freezer . Seen no white bass caught today .

Hey Hellsangler, I was fishing Lincoln Beach about 8:00 A.M., and my friends brother called and said they were catching Perch off the south dike at Provo boat harbor.
Did you try the South dike?
We caught a few mudcats, and hooked a really big mink. He ran under the rocks and broke my buddies line.
So, if you see a big black mink running around Lincoln beach with two jigs and a bobber trailing behind, now you know why.

I tried the north dike with no luck and fished the south dike and that is where i caught all my fish . I didn't get there till about 1:00pm . I was fishing the Provo river inlet side of the dike . Perch would of been nice to find . I did run across a black mink , but it had no jigs in him . LOL

[cool]Hey, Bob, what kind of presentation do you have to use for mink...and what colors work best?
Oh yeah, don't let the PETA folks know that you are combining hunting and fishing. That will put you on the S-list for sure.
You didn't reply to my last email. Have you changed your email address or are you just ignoring me? Heck, I can get that at home.

oooooppsss, I seem to do that alot,,,blank posts.
Its because I like to switch to basic editor and somehow click on the wrong thing.
Hey TUBE Dude, how ya doin? I'm not ignoring, just been kind of busy. Elk hunting and such. Got my Elk, took 700 feet of cable to winch her out. Of course I shot her on the road. She just didn't want to stay there.
It takes a special talent to hook a mink. Put a crawler on each hook and set your rod down, while you go and reel in another fish on rod no. 2. When you see your pole moving away,,,,,grab it!!! Of course, you aren't going to win this battle, but ya gotta try.
Gotta go cut up some meat,,,and pay for another reel I just bought on ebay. I really need to stop looking at stuff on ebay. I've bought three stradic reels and two G-Loomis rods this week.
Oh well, c-ya

[cool]Thanks for the pointers on mink fishing. I have never been able to master it. I have donated more than a few fish to those fearless little varmints though. One was what could have been a state record golden trout in California. I was packing it out in a space blanket, with snow wrapped around the fish. Stopped for the night on the long hike out from a two day hike. During the night I heard noise from my backpack and when I shined my light on it, there was my 20" golden in the jaws of a snarling intruder. Before I could wiggle up out of my sleeping bag, he was gone into the night. What is even worse is that the pics I took, to have good color reference for mounting, did not turn out. The camera shutter started sticking open after the camera got "sprinkled" in an unanticipated downpour while I was across the lake fishing.
Double bummer.

Hey Tomegun, I got a SJR723 and a SJR 724. They are custom made in Oregon. Both GL3. I have a GL2 SJR 722 that I caught at Jordanelle. Love it so much, I thought I should buy a few. I got two stradic 4000 reels, a stradic 5000, and a Fin-Nor Lumina 4000 off ebay this week.(Iforgot about the Lumina) The 5000 is too big for any rods I have, so I need to get a Muskie rod to put it on.
Have you been molesting(ripping the lips off) any big smallies lately?
Se ya at Jordanelle one of these days, or Deer Creek.
