Which section? The section below Johnson Reservoir....or the section around the Bicknell bottoms? These are really two totally different streams with totally different conditions...the stream through the Bicknell Bottoms is almost always good and fishable. On the other hand, the section of stream below Johnson varies according to the time of year...

The section of the river flowing near Bryce Canyon is fishing as well as the section of the Mississippi River flowing near Zion Canyon...

I think you're exaggerating just a bit but made a good point[laugh]. Just a guess that he meant Capitol Reef NP. Flows look fine for fishing in that vacinity.

Flows may look good through Capitol Reef, but I wouldn't suggest fishing it. There is a reason the name of the river changes to "Dirty Devil" at Hanksville!


Flows are almost always red and chocolatey in Capitol Reef.


I would suggest trying further up stream, either in the Bicknell Bottoms, or between Mill Meadow and Johnson Res.
