Fishing for perch wont be that easy till beginning of summer. I saw tons of perch from 30-116ft on deer creek but they just don't want to bite right now. I will be heading back to dc beginning of June to find them from 5-30ft of water.

most of the lakes that hold perch will start having them move into shallow flats to spawn. they will be attracted to bushes or anykind of submerged brush. once you find a school stay on em cause you will get more. they can be a little more finicky during the spawn but you can catch them, my best times i get them is right before dark and even in the dark a bit since that when they do most of there actual spawining in the dark. going to go to RP in a few weeks and check it out, i usually get some good numbers if i find em

Thanks guys. I was thinkin they weren't moving yet. If you do have luck, and wouldn't mind shooting me a PM, I would love to know when and where. I just love beer battered perch.

To answer your question about Pineview, it is now ice-free.

Pretty sure Mantua is wide open. Newton and Hyrum too.

I've found perch mixed in the bluegill beds. But that's after warmer water. They do spawn earlier than the Bass/Gills - pretty sure. But it's not like they'll be sticking around to keep an eye on the younglings (until they're edible size anyway).

I wouldn't be afraid to keep some ice flies handy, I'd expect small offerings are still on the menu.

I think the perch spawn when the water gets to 48 to 52 ..
