Ponds/Lakes where motors not allowed
#1
Hey there,

I am considering getting a kayak and looking for fishing spots that either don't allow motorized boats or are private fisheries. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Grantsville Reservoir almost because it's privately owned and the owners don't allow fuel powered boats. Though electric powered boats are allowed, they won't be fast or making a wake like water skiers and powerful boats.

Many Uinta lakes don't allow internal combustion motors, but electric are OK.
Boulder Mountain there are no motors of any kind allowed, gas or electric. Great rule!

Not sure where you're located, or how far willing to travel - but the Logan river has 3 dams that provide nice paddling opportunities. Had a great time with an inflatable Kayak back when.

There's also some lakes (like Tony Grove) that you can drive to (after thaw). I think the Wellsville reservoir allows boat, not motors.

Along Valley View Highway - you can access the south end of Cutler Reservoir. Lots of Kayakers, canoes, etc- enjoy trips out that way. Under 35HP is the restriction south of Benson. Works good for me!

The Bear River also offer a number of launches.

I know a number of folks who cross the border to Preston area lakes, a number of which are motorless, but mucho fishing opportunities.

Gooseberry on top of skyline dr. down in Sanpete county its a awesome lake. Mapel lake up payson caynon has some big ole browns in it that usually don't cooperate. Payson lakes is also a good lake to try. These are a few of my favorites from growing up in a float tube.
