Crayfish
#1
I live up in Logan and recently purchased a Crayfish trap. Does anyone know anywhere nearby I can test it out? What is the best bait to use? Is it legal for me to leave the trap overnight, or do I need to stay near it? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

Hyrum has crawdads I always use chicken liver for bait. I believe you can leave your trap over night, but you never know who will retrieve it before you so the only time I have is on a camping trip

Yup - found 'em at Hyrum. I have seen signs of them in the Bear River, but they probably like rocky areas more than the muddy stuff. Willard is another place for some 'dads.

Nothing like Strawberry though!

just be sure you don't transport them live from the lake.

Not sure about leaving the trap, but I've heard of folks dropping one, take a troll around the lake to find folks messing with their line, so yeah...

Lots of bait options - but I heard cans of cat-food with holes punched to let 'em ooze . . . do you have the square trap type? Think they'd do better than the cone type. There were posts with designs to make 'em out of wire mesh.

Oneida Reservoir up in Idaho has them too. Not sure how big they get as I've only seen their remains on the shore or puked up by smallmouth, but they're in there.
