You should have responded to my "fishing invite post" -- had you responded quickly -- maybe I would have also been headed to Lincoln Beach on Saturday. So many places to fish -- so many people to fish with -- life is good!

Hey Kent, If I wasn't going to be at work I would be there right now. I just got a tip from a guy at work that fished there the other day. he said they caught about 100 or so.
fishing right in the hot spring is pretty jig friendly but fishing out north is snag city. better bring a few of them jigs. later chuck [signature]

hey utwalleye, 100 of what species? Crappies, whities, gills, bullheads, walleyes? By the way them bass sure the hell are sppooooky over there. Tried to sight fish them but my superior noiseless/vibrationless stalking tactics still scared them. Even the gills are way less agressive than Saratoga a few years ago before it dried up. At 'toga the gills ate 3 inch rapalas and large stickbaits that I used for bass. These finickly little gills at Lincoln suck my worm in, spit it, repetitiively until finally they decide to eat the damn thing.

They caught mostly whitebass with some crappie and gills. yea those largemouths are pretty spooked when they are up close to the spring inlet. last year if you were the first to get there, you could cast out a jig-n-pig and catch a good 17in. plus largemouth. then they catch on to you and move out to the middle and slow down, but that first hour or so can be good. last year I caught sevral over 17in. in the spring. for the crappie and gills I fished with a icefly tipped with wax worm under a float with a 3 feet 6in. leader. that spring is just about 4 feet deep, but with lower water it might be less.

Well, here is my report. I fished the first spring for about 1 1/2 hours in the middle of the afternoon. I was the only one there. I cast one rod out with a crawler on it and let it sink to the bottom. I cast various jigs on the second rod. Every 15 minutes or so I would return to my first rod and reel it in. There was always a mudcat on it. I only caught one fish on jigs, and it was also a mudcat. The wind was blowing from the south, until less than 10 minutes after I started fishing, and it switched from the north and blew hard the rest of the time I was there. I went over to the third spring and fished it only for about 1/2 hour -- I didn't get a bite. If you go out there take as much water with you as you can haul, and what you don't drink dump into the lake. It is down at least 15 inches from last year at this time, and it was extremely low last year. Utah Lake can use every drop of water that it can get. Bring on the snow (except for this Saturday anywhere near Bear Lake)!

Hey Kent, did you see the mink?
Anyhow, I'll bet this storm will bring the white bass in. Did you try a tiny little ratfinkie jig under a boober? Thats been our best presentation for the big gills. It's cold enough now for the fish to gang up on the warm springs. I'll keep you informed on whats going on down there. c-ya walleyebob [signature]

No I didn't see the mink. I didn't try under a bobber, but I tried all of the tricks that caught over a hundred white bass last winter. By the time I fished for the gills, which I have previously found in the third spring, I had gotten so cold from the constant strong wind from the north, that I wasn't in the mood to try very hard for them. I just made a few casts with a jig hook, with a piece of crawler on it.

I like to check this place out . Never been there . I believe you gave me directions last year but I ended up going to AF boat harbor (closer) . I would like to see where the springs are . I bet they could have some fog on them now with the cold temps . Did you fish it from shore or did you wade out to cast to the springs ?

Just fished from the shore. No need to wade out (one can cast far enough without wading), and with all of the drop offs and large rocks it would be a challenge to do much wading.

I was thinking of going to Utah Lake today , but it has been snowing all day at home .It is like a blizzard outside but it is just lake affect snow and I'm in the path of it . Might give Utah lake a try tomorrow , not sure where I'll end up .

I fished the Utah Lake State Park for about 1 hour this PM. I drove out the north dike. It was dangerous even trying to walk on rocks that had about 1/2 inch of ice on them. It was windy, snowing and cold. No fishies today.
