UL CAT FISH AND SPECIAL REELS
#1

Forum contributor, Geezer, read on one of my posts on a fishing forum where there was a special reel that could be used by disabled individuals, especially quadriplegics, that allows them to reel in fish with no mobility below the neck and called me and asked to meet at our boat to donate one for use by these kids and others.

It seems that Tom’s younger brother was crippled as a boy when he was run over by a car. All of the brothers life he was stuck in a wheelchair. Tom took him fishing and together the brother’s enjoy being in the outdoors. All of this has stayed withTom all of these years and this wonderful gift to others, that shared his brothers fate, is Tom's way to help others less fortunate and honor his brother memory.

Hundreds of Chair Bound individuals will enjoy this gift from Geezer and it will bring a thousand Smiles to those who thought, until now, that they could never reel in a fish. Thank you Tom for your remarkable generosity.
After Geezer left, Brian Hatch who is in a wheelchair came by to talk fishing in his neat little pontoon boat that he and his fishin' buddy had built themselves. Try that in a wheelchair! Brian is a gifted fisherman and he doesn't let his disability slow him down for one second. Quite the guy. I am honored to know him.

As a footnote: While I was on the boat I cast out a line and in an houror so I caught 1 mudder and six beautiful channels. All were released excepttwo that I filleted for a bath in the deep fryer. Channels were caught on stinkbait and the mudder on night crawlers right from the mooring place on the dock.

Hopefully this trend will continue and there will be many more days of good fishing for all those we take out for the day and all of you.

Your offer is fantastic. You have no idea the happiness you will bring someone who has never had a chance to do the simple things that you and I take for granted. If you will buy the reel, Hand in hand outdoors will buy a quality rod to go with it and provide the gimbel belt and the shoulder strap to make the set complete THEN we will invite you aboard the Freedoms Dream when we have a boat load of individuals in wheelchairs aboard and you can share with them the magic you have provided them.

I'll post the web page link here in a minute. God bless you for your kindness, Steve Henline http://www.handinhandoutdoors.org

I am overwhelmed by the thoughts of what you are proposing. Fund raising and contributions are a part of every non-profit organization.

Hand in Hand Outdoors has built a special boat to accommodate wheelchairs. We serve Wounded Warriors, disabled veterans, children with disabilities, underprivileged and special need children. It is our honor and privilege to serve all of these individuals without charge. All are welcome on our trips.

No one in our organization is paid, all are volunteers who share the passion to honor our vets and this is a way we can say Thank You for their service to our country. We cannot heal the horrific wounds our nations men and women have suffered, but we can take them on the water for a day of God's greatest healing balm, fishing. The therapeutic value of these activities is real and important in the process of living and surviving after the trauma of war, disease and accidents.
We would surely appreciate your help and donation, regardless of how small. Please go to our website read what we do and see the pictures and testimonials of those who we serve and the organizations who support our cause. If after you have done that, you would like to help there is a place where you can make a donation, and I believe, specify where your money goes, for example for special reels. However small the donation, a child, a veteran will benefit directly from your hard earned dollar. God bless you all my brothers on the river. Steve Henline
