sand hollow
#1
Hit sand hollow this weekend arrived on Friday about 10am wind was terrible so didn't fish Friday. First thing Saturday morning we were on the water fished from 7 to 10 managed 4 fish on a drop shot. Saturday afternoon headed back out managed 7 fish on the Texas rig in the picture. Got out this morning for only an hour but still managed 5. All but one was released the one we kept just, never swam away. The Mrs caught the biggest right close to 4lbs. Fished the easy shore all weekend because that is where we camped. Now, on to the frustrating part. WE had two toons and two jet skis we took them to the gate to be cleaned and was told to take it to a different lake because they cleaned too many boats lady year. I don't understand this, the dnr is so big about not spreading this, stuff but yet it v seems like they want to do as less as possible. They turned away us and 2 other boats. I well have my stuff cleaned this, week but what if I was that guy that didn't care and, just launched on the next water I came to? I see this spreading sometime, in the near future and if this keeps happening I think the dnr is to blame.

Fished a tournament at sand hollow had to beg to get someone to decontaminate my boat. They were so put out that they done a half a$$ed job. Wasn't sure they got everything needed. So i had it done at another lake before launching. Very frustrating. I think with the attitude they are taking at sand hollow its only a matter of time before it spreads again. Nice report by the way.

No worries, fella's -- we all took an open book, online "test" regarding this whole situation; there is no way anyone is going to spread anything they aren't supposed to.

No, you can have it done at Gunlock as well. The only problem is they're just as shitty as they are at Sand Hollow. What's the deal? If we are forced to play by their rules, the least they can do is PLAY BY THE RULES TOO!!!!! The funny thing about Sand Hollow is there doesn't seem to be any mussels in the lake. I mean really.....have you ever been to Lake Mead or ANY lake on the Colorado River system south of there? There's no mistaking the fact that there are quagga mussels in those waters. But in all my years of fishing Sand Hollow, (since it opened) I have never seen a quagga mussel, even when the lake was just about as low as it could go. Why? Maybe because there aren't any. But boy do they sure have some nice cleaning machines and new fancy work yard! All funded be all of us thanks to the sudden discovery of 'invasive qugga mussels'. Funny how things seem to work out.

My dad and I were down there first of April and thought if we lived down there it would be better just to own 2 boats rather to deal with them. (The division cleaning people). If that would ever be possible. One just to use at sand hollow and one for the rest of the lakes. We were down there with friends and we had two boats we had to beg them to clean are boats. Then when they finally did it took 1 hour and 15 minutes to clean both boats. I thought that was a little long. Specially with two boats behind us waiting.

I thought this was a form for fishing reports not for people to complain? I take my boat to Sand Hollow and Gunlock all of the time and don't have any issues with having my boat decontaminated.

Am I understanding this right...? You think that the DNR just made it up? I was down at SH three months ago and along the sandy side of the lake I bet I saw ten trillion of them washed up on the shore. It was insane.

But I bet you're probably right. Them there DNR guys is only in it fer' the monies, sho.

Really bumdave? Ten trillion? I'm sure the folks at the park would like you to point them out to them because even they have never seen one execpt for the one adult mussel they found years ago.

That's what I have heard as well. One mussel was found on a boat that was leaving the lake. So now they have to wait X amount of years with different tests through out the year to be claimed clean again.

Umm, not to late to recant. We won't hold it against you.

When I was there in April it took about ust less than a 1/2 hour for the boat to be cleaned, dudeman made dang sure nothing was going to leave that reservoir alive and that's fine by me.
