I went on my first long range excursion with the Tube yesterday morning. I launched a little before 6AM from Charleston and motored across to the rocky side of the Provo inlet.
I pinged a bunch of fish but the bite was slow.
I reeled in just a couple for the 2 hour morning... a Crappie and Small Mouth Bass. Nothing big except they are my first ones of the year from Deer Creek.
Adding those to the others, I've now caught all of the following at Deer Creek this year:
Rainbow Trout, Walleye, Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Brown Trout, and Crappie.

[#0000FF]I'm guessing you meant the PROVO inlet.

The problem with going to fish early then heading to work is that, not only do your fish shrink 2" from when you caught them, they also change species.
Oh yeah, and the river you're fishing by changes names.
The second fish IS the one I caught and it's not really a Perch is it?

[#0000FF]Hey, at my age I don' need no fancy 'scuses for messin' up. Comes natural. That's why it's dangerous to post pictures and then make comments on them. I don' always get my facts straight neither.
Glad you found something that wanted to play. It should only get better from now on...until the power squadron takes over the lake. I have been on the water before daybreak and still had water skiers buzzing me along that far shoreline. They seem to think if they pretend you are not there then the 150 foot proximity law does not apply.
Realistically, the walleyes usually come on strong in June and the perch start getting much better by July. The smallies should be moving in to the shallows to spawn any time now. Crappies should be spawning or finishing their spawn. I think there will be some bigger ones showing up this year.
