Went to Provo harbor and it was all froze up . Did find a few holes of open water out on the points of the dikes . I had to hit it hard to break thru but it was 1" thick in the boat ramp area . But that is only 2 ft deep there . Stopped by Lindon harbor and it was the same story . Lake had lots of ice on it , but the north end look like it had more if not froze all the way across . Fishing was slow . Snagged a few carp .
Out in the main lake my jig would break thru the ice when it landed on the ice . Just so you know it is not safe at all yet .

Wow that happened fast. I was casting a jig from the docks in the Provo harbor yesterday afternoon and there wasn't any ice then.

I walked out on one of the docks and that is where I kicked a hole thru the ice to test it . I tried ice fishing that hole for a little bit but no luck . Sure did surprise me . Rocks were all ice up like you said too . Slick !!!!!!

Is the Ice getting thicker at utah lake? if so that may be my first ice trip of the year. Never thought that would be the case!!!

Took a walk down to the pumps last night. 1-2 inches. Walked out about 10 feet. Not too hard yet. Didn't dare go any farther as I was alone. Will check tonight if I get home in time and post again. It is very suprising that there is ice already. Last year we only got about a week or two of ice all year, and that was around Christmas.

The nights will continue to be cold and it will help in forming ice but what will the warm temps over the next few days do to ice forming on the lake? I mean will it warm up the water enough to prevent ice forming? Or just slow it down for a little while? Its a big lake so I don't know anyhting about ice on lakes.

The outlet channel is different from the rest of the lake. There can be no ice on the lake and be 6" thick in the channel. As far as ice build up you just don't know until you check it out, how long during the day did it get above freezing? it takes a while to melt it back. how long are the cold periods? how much was the wind blowing, alot of stuff effects ice on.

I know the temps are cold now and tomorrow but the next few day we'll pushing upper 40's and 50 by the weekend\ depending upon which weather forcaster you beleive.

what amount of the 24 hour period will temps get above 32, that is the real questin.40-50 for a few hours will not make a big difference but if it stays above freezing for 24 hour or more it will have its effect.

Walked down to the pumps today. About three inches of ice. Only two white bass caught all morning. Five or six guys fishing. The ice is there, but the fish aren't.

I ended not going anyway , so no report . Something come up . Thanks anyway . It looks like today will be the same story . No fishin' for me today either . I'm not use to getting Thanksgiving off and no fishing too , I'm real bummed out about it .
