Fished the bay Thursday night, the old mistress finally gave it up. Between two of us we caught 14 wipers and two big fat walleye.
All caught trolling 2.8 MPH dragging blue and silver rattle traps. The eye in the
picture measured almost 20".

Good for you Scott, alway a good day when you can get into the fish in those numbers. Thanks for posting your report and pics. Looks like those 15" wipers are going to be the main wipers we catch this year.

very nice! I have yet to catch a wiper... When you say, fishing at night. What time are you talking? Thanks for all the info.

I guess I should have said evening. We were on the water at 6:00 and caught all fish between 7 and 9.
We went back out Saturday evening and got skunked....

I'm one of the lucky ones that only live 15 miles from the south marina. I don't venture out in the wind on the bay. It's one of the most dangerous bodies I've fished. There is no escape except the marina. When Willard decides to whip up 3 foot waves.... it can be deadly. I don't play that game. We usually fish Willard 2-3 times a week. One thing I've learned is that the same lures usually work all the time, but the wipers are very rarely in the same spot twice. If you see a post that they are boiling by the light pole one night, then you missed your opportunity already.
