I wanted to take a buddy out bowfishing in UL, but i wanted to see if they have started grouping up yet. I know the warmer it gets the better, but I was just curious as to what you guys have been seeing.
Thanks!

Take your buddy up to Deer Creek, the water is clearer and on average the fish are bigger.

It just seems that things are really late due to all the cold and rain lately. Was out at Pelican on Sat. Water temp was in the low 60's at launch and got up to mid 60's by the end of the day. Blue gill were not in shallow yet or were so far back in the reeds you could not get to em. LMB were fairly active, but not what you usually see. Air temp at Strawberry was 24 when we drove by on the way out. That is COLD for June 1. So it does not surprise me that the carp are not quite up shallow yet !!

Went out chasing carp two weeks ago and they were podded up and in the shallows.
We had lots better luck once we got out of the boat in shallow stuff and just walked around!
Once the wind comes up they go down so make sure you're there early!

Never shot carp in clear water, are there enough in deer creek to really take a trip specifically looking to bowfish?

I've shot carp at deer creek over by midway and they were everywhere but it seems like 11am the wind kicks up pretty good. I also shot UL a few weeks ago and they were starting to pod up

Went to the pumphouse and trekked on the trail behind the pumphouse that leads to Utah lake and there was carp spawning along the shallows sometimes throwing themselves on shore

There are lots of Carp in Deer Creek. Try around Charleston. We went out friday night from 10 pm to 2 am under the lights and had a great time. There we lots females with eggs so the spawn has not happened yet. At utah lake the carp were in full spawn in Goshen Bay the next weekend the fish were gone the wind and rain sent them back to the deep.
This weekend should be good just about anywhere with the warmer temperatures this week.

Thanks for the input guys. I usually start shooting them down in Provo Bay. The water is shallower there so it seems to warm up faster. Plus there are a lot of little channels through the reeds to hunt in that help cut down on the wind. I live in Lehi, so I like to hit the north end of the lake early in the morning before the wind blows me off the lake, but it tends to be a little behind Provo Bay. It's fun when they are in the open water in the tight little groups. You could close your eyes and shoot and still manage to hit something, although it's not quite the challenge I'm looking for. I've never tried Deer Creek. I will have to give it a shot.

I was fishing in the Wallsburg arm of Deer Creek yesterday and the carp were all over doing their thing. They were bunched up in groups of about 5-7 and a lot of them were huge! With the water being pretty clear, I bet you would do well up there and it would be fun!
