Lincoln Beach cat/carp
#1
Hit LB the last couple of days. Picked up 8-10 cats each day but nothing over 23 inches. Tried to fish near the reed/phrag line where the carp are in full love mode. Hard to keep a line in the water without a carp cruising by and snagging the lines. The reeds were alive with carp and there were carp clusters everywhere in the deeper water. If the carp removal program has made a dent in the carp population I sure can't see it.

The cats favored carp meat and an occasional shrimp. The gkids picked up a few carp with their little compound bow and fish arrow. Finally lost the fish arrow ($20!) on a wayward shot but plenty of cat bait now.

Fishin' has been good but I can't find that 30 plus incher I need for the cat contest. It will come.... maybe tomorrow?

Been bumping into a few "NORTHERN" size cats, but also a number of "southern" sized cats too. Fun tugs all the same. Cool your gettin' the g-kids in on the action.

Funny - I've seen lots of slurpy carp, and mud-stirs, but really not the full-lambada mode. Maybe it still colder up north. Though I did find suckers up to the frisky. And they've proved to be a quality bait. Definite preference for cut-bait over worms at this point. Heck - my tasty shrimp hardly got love today.

Keep at it. You and I both targeting that same 30" marker.

Curious - do you think cats are spawned out down your way, or are they still staging and dancing the lambada?

BLK - any advice on where to fish from shore @ LB? That seems to be your stompin grounds. Hoping to catch some contest worthy cats tomorrow night with the wife.

Thanks in advance!

What contest are you folks talking about?

Also, good luck at LB tomorrow. Free fishing day is gonna turn that place into a zoo!

Thanks!

Contest lasts through September 30 of this year. Not sure if you can still register, but check with CoyoteSpinner. Competition always makes the fishing season some fun!

Hit 'em again today and picked up 20 or so but still cannot find the one I am looking for. I know he is there and we will eventually have a little confrontation. Being unencumbered by the demands of gainful employment I can and do fish almost every day but without anything contest worthy .... yet. I am makin' some awful good memories for my fishing crew.

Many of the cats we caught today were beat up and battle scared, especially the bulls. The water temp was right around 66-67 so I think the rut is still on. The carp are a real nuisance everywhere I fish now on Ut. Lake. Today we were at Bird Island and there were no other boats around. The big one will come.... probably about Sept. 1st.[frown]

ULC-- If I were fishing from shore I would probably fish right off the end of the boat launch channel. If you can find a place where you can reach the reed line in a foot or so of water there will be cats there. Many good places farther around LB point, maybe by the orchards.

Anyways, fun time, good fishin', and good competition even with those northern guys who surely must cheat somehow cuz they have sure been catchin' some bigguns.

Check the forum often because my 33 incher will be showing up soon.

Best of luck to anyone fishing south of SLC.[Wink]
