Boat loads of catfish for our vets

We were on the water fishing Saturday and Sunday with boat loads of disabled war veterans and the bite was excellent. Using night crawlers, carp meat and shrimp all of our veterans caught beautiful fat channel Cats, Bullheads, white bass and a few pan fish to complete the mix.
We fished primarily at Bird Island to calm waters and azure blue skies. Both trips were incredible and, as always, we enjoyed the opportunity to share our love for the water and fishing with these valiant men who have paid such a price for our country. Steve Henline

The channel cat ranged between 2 1/2 to 10 lbs. Very nice fish....indeed.

There is indeed a story. Although not a rare specie, slabus nuisanceses, is seldom brought to the net. This particular one took a hook with a night crawler and resisted all the way back to the boat creating much speculation as to its kind and weight.

The struggle was epic as the slabus resisted in the fashion of all flatfish. Finally it was aboard the boat and greatly admired for its tenacity and valiant struggle.

Despite the great fight that taxed both rod and line, once aboard the slabus went rigid and moved no longer making it unnecessary to dispatch it in the way of a halibut and other flatfish which refuse to give up life.

Not knowing if they are edible or not we kept it aboard until expert council could be sought. In the end, as is often the case, the trophy just vanished with only a photograph remained to memorialize this tremendous battle!

The boat "Freedoms Dream" has a fish cleaning station aboard and all the fish are fileted and package up for our guest to take home with them at days end. We also have the ability to have fish frys aboard the boat.
