The gal at the gate of the South marina said July but one of the DNR guy that we talked to on the lake said it could be as late as Aug[:/].

To all of you Willard regulars. Is there still a good chunk of the north half of the lake buoyed off or is it just the marina now?

It is the same as it was, it has not changed. The area that is closed starts at the trees to the North of Freeway bay and goes at an angle to 1/4 to 1/2 mile West of the outlet.
july first
[#800000]Sorry, ain't gonna happen. Here's a quote from Channel 4 News posted last week Monday (the 17th):[/#800000]
Quote:WILLARD BAY, Utah (ABC 4 Utah) - It's now been over two months since a Chevron pipeline broke at Willard Bay spewing more than 20,000 gallons of fuel into the area and still parts of the park remain closed. Utah’s Division of State Parks tells ABC 4 Utah the North Marina at Willard Bay won’t be back open in time for the 4th of July holiday.

Now that the temps are heating up Willard Bay State Park is the place to be for boaters, water skiers and fishermen, but all that activity is still restricted to the south side of the bay.

Lt. Eric Stucki with Utah State Parks explained, "That beach area on the north is closed. It’s a small percentage of water that's closed, but the beach is closed."

The north beach is near where some 20,000 gallons of Chevron diesel fuel spilled back in mid-March. Chevron is still cleaning up and the Division of Water Quality is waiting on water and soil samples. They want to make sure all traceable diesel is removed before the marina is opened back up.

Lt. Stucki said, "Right now we're waiting for soil and water samples back middle of July, so we won't have word till middle of July when we're opening."

I hope Chevron will be reinbursing the park for lost revenue from having the beaches closed.

Today on the radio, they said it would be open by the 4th. I don't know how reliable the radio is, but that's what they said.
