New England Tackle Shop

What are the best stores in New England to purchase a new rod and reel at? My online searches have turned up only the Bass Pro Shop in Foxboro and chain stores like Dick's and (dare I say) Wal-Mart. I know there must be independently owned stores in New England that have great rod and reel selections. Anyone know of any? Thanks.

I go to bass pro when i'm looking for something specific, and i'm not sure what exactly that is. In other words, when you really have a need to put your hands on a large selection of equipment, because you are selective, you can't beat somewhere like BP.

With that said, I support local businesses too. If you find a local business near by, stop by and talk to the owner. Tell him what type of gear you use most often, and 9 times out of 10 he or she will stock it for you.

Best way to find local tackle stores, is google or the phone book. You might also try posting this on the related state board, at the bottom of the forum page.
