WHERE TO GO
#1
So I am just moving into Utah, I am an avid fisherman in my home state of Idaho. And dreading moving to Utah because I have no knowledge of Utah waters. I am hoping to find some guys that can show me around the area.

We have Tiger Trout[Smile] Where you moving? Our rivers can't compare, but I think our stillwaters are pretty spectacular.

Welcome to BFT TC! What kind of fishing do you like to do?

I will move this to the Utah board where others can chime in.

I just move into the Ogden area, I have been a river fisher, never done much on still waters (no boat).

Head up to the Uintas. Beautiful scenery, cool weather and sweet fishing! You can hike .5 miles to 18 miles and find gorgeous fish and most of the time you don't need aboat. Are you spin angler or fly fisherman? Or a hybrid? [Wink]

With no boat, I find that float tubes and toons come in handy for still water. Also great for those on a budget. Utah has many different species and fishing opportunities. Rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds. Get a good state map and start there then begin your exploration.

Welcome to UT! Utah has great cold and warm water fishing! Being that you are in Ogden I would suggest both the Ogden river (below and in the canyon), and the weber (all over) for browns...you have Willard for all your warm water species (bass, crappie, gills, walleye, kitties, and wipers). You can also head up to Logan to fish the Logan river and East Fork. The Weber will probably be your best bet at catching some big browns on spin gear. Good luck!
