Thinking of going up tomorrow. Can't get my buddy to go so alone it is. Is it gonna be too much trouble to launch by myself? My boat is just a 16` Lund so not a big boat. I do not want to hog up the ramp trying to do this myself.

Welcome to the site Lundude. I don't think it will be a problem as long as you don't launch from the middle of the ramp. Were you going to the North or South marina? Although tomorrow will be a little more busy than during the week, there are not a lot of people there this time of the year, especially if you go to the South marina. And even if you go to the North marina, if you get there early, you should be fine.

Welcome to BFT! You shouldn't have a problem launching. Get there early before everyone else does, it will make it easier. When I get to go alone (which is most of the time) I usually end up taking my toon. A little easier for me to launch, but then again a different way to fish. Makes it nice to get out. Hope you do well tomorrow.[cool]

Either marina should be ok but the South end is shallow and if you need more than 2.5 feet to float your boat, you would be better off going to the North marina. If you can launch with that much water you will likely see few others there, so you would not have much of a problem launching by yourself. If you do go to the South marina, I'd advise you to trim your motor up as much as you can or use your elect motor to get out into the cannel. When was the last time you were out there?

Well the water level will be lower for sure, if that was the last time you were there. It seems that in the last week, the water drop has slowed down and it looks like it will not drop much now. The biggest issue about launching at the South end is there are no docks in the water, you will have to beach your boat once you launch, so you can park you truck/car. The North end has one dock in the water and you might be able to get two boats tied up at a time,so you will need to be quick to launch and park unless you are there when few boats are launching. The other issue you need to be aware of is how shallow it is after you go out the channels of either marina, just make sure you do not go to the left or the right for at least 100 yds after that, you should be fine. Last thing I should mention, The Island is just barely under the water,so stay away from it. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Lundude,
Don't worry about tieing up the ramp if you launch on your own. You paid a fee to be there and you have the right to safely launch your boat, even if it does take an extra minute or two.
I'll bet you are no slower than the water ski boat next to you that has to wait for the friends to get there, load their cooler, and then run back to the car for the life jackets they forgot!
