My first hard deck trip!
#1
Today with a day off I decided too use this day really wisley and hit a certain place that the (NAME NOT MENTIONED ON PURPOSE!)[mad].

After shopping at TD place for ice rods and jigs then grab new reel, shovel, heater, line, and ice scoop. It was about time to head to the lake with my long lasting delays. Got up to the lake while is was flicking snow in my eyes. Weather wasn't to bad but time to time again uncomfortable in 2" of slush. Luckily the ice was thick enough to set up my ice tent too keep warm.

Decided to put on some universal wax and so far pretty happy with it today.

I'm guessing that this small rainbow has been injected by too much steroids [laugh]. First time I caught a dinker with a huge hump [crazy].

Fish a little over 1 hr at night to see how fast of action it's at night but not that bad surprisingly comparing last year night trips. 3 night shots.

The worst part about this trip was that I had only 4 hole to drill till my 6 year old auger decided too get a proper ice fishing grave yard. The top handle came off and took a hard dip. Oh well at least I got a eskimo auger and hope it will do the job until I get a nils auger.

End up catching 20+ rainbow's and one brookie.

Nice early outing, how thick was the ice? Too bad about your auger that can cut a trip short in a hurry. Thanks for the report. Later J

The ranged around from 1/2"- 6" and some areas it like 2" then 2" of water then 1/2" of ice under the water. Pretty sketchy.

Luckily the second to last hole I drilled was providing a festival [angelic].

I used to be the same way until I started floating in a boat or toon. Now I'm fine if it doesn't freeze for awhile. But it sounds like if you really want a hard deck trip, you can do it now. Good luck and be careful. Later J

You're going to get wet if you're going out on 1/2" ice. Better wear flotation and be ready to pull yourself out. Those little fish aren't worth the risk. Be careful. Later J

I don't blame you for being plenty safe. You'll live to fish another day. Good luck. J

There was some area's that was 2" of ice then 2" of water under the ice then 1/2" of ice so it was a double layer but trust me I slowly walked back to the thicker ice.

Dang FG those gotta be some heavy 130 lbs+ boots. How can you even walk in a boot made of gold [laugh].

You might break your back if you wear those boots again[crazy].

There are some big guns in there but got to wade through all the dinkers to find them. As well what beats like being the 4 person ice fishing hard deck with a fish or two too show on here[Tongue]
