Ice Report Low Elevation
#1
So the cold winds did a job on my local pond last night it iced over, what are you seeing out there? I know Mantua is one of the earlier low elevation ponds to cap and it was open last night in the waves, but if it cooled off like my pond, it might cap over when the wind stops blowing... Keep an eye on Hyrum, I want to still get the boat over there again, if anyone is out today and gets a water temp, please post it up here... Thanks J

Went for a ride this afternoon to check things over a little and found ice on the shallow parts of Cutler, the current areas are still open... Seen one crazy guy walking on some mighty thin ice out there, didn't stick around long enough to watch him fall through, but he probably did, it wasn't very thick.... Big crew of folks fishing on the tressel this afternoon, been wanting to go try it there since it's the first and only deep spot coming from the south, so it probably has a pile of fish in there... Was too lazy to walk out and ask how they were doing...

Then tried the Cutler Canyon over look, but found lots of red paint and no tresspassing signs on the road I wanted to travel, so I gave up on that one...

Headed for Newton Reservoir and wow is that ever low, I didn't know that lake was that deep to start with... Anyway I tried a couple casts but found no attention so I gave up in less than an hour... Water was quite stained, not sure what from, but it seemed very dead out there, no jumps or flips or anything besides the muskrat...

Anyway finished up at Yote's hole on the Bear River and that was cool to see at low levels, but no fish tonight... Man those guys that moved into there fishing are some real winners, I've never seen so many beer bottles, and cans, cigarett butts and bait and tackle containers, what some trashy suckers.... Sure wish someone would watch that and then go nail them with a big ticket and pull their fishing license because they made such a mess... Next time I'll take a garbage bag so I can clean up their mess... Might take two bags... I don't know why people have to be so junky, there is no need for that, it's just as easy to take it out with you as it was to haul it into there... And they wonder why land owners shut off their property to them... I don't blame them a bit... Okay enough preach'en take it easy... Later J
