Deer Creek - Ice fishing
#1
Will Deer Creek be frozen enough for ice fishing after Christmas? I have a friend that may want to go ice fishing for trout. I'll go as long as it is not windy. Thanks.

Depends on how cold it gets. Some years it has already started to freeze, then others it never freezes. My guess is that if we are lucky, it will be capped by New Years, that does not mean you will be able to get on it, just capped !! It may not be till mid january that you get the 4" you need to get on it !!!

Just a heads up dc isn't my ice fishing lake of choice at all. Wen't a few times last year got skunked most of the time. Only one time I went there and caught 2 18" bows just right before dark as well had a few misses.

okay, maybe Scofield would be a better bet? I'm new to ice fishing so I want to get some fish. I remember going to Deer Creek one summer in '97 and we got skunked. If I'm going to get skunked I'd rather drive 15 miles to Quail Lake and be warm. Lol.

Since you're down south, why drive past Otter Creek or Piute to ice fish Scofield?

I'm looking forward to hitting Otter Creek sometime in mid-December as soon as there is safe ice. Need to see some friends in Orem/Linden so may plan a trip to one of the lakes up north after Christmas.

Scofield will do if you're in the neighborhood. Deer Creek is seldom frozen before New Years, if at all.

Ya trust me an ice trip on dc from where you live isn't worth it. I'd heard better reports on scofield that convince me too go at least once or twice this year after I've haven't been there in 4 years. It might cost me 1/2 a tank but shall be a better trip then DC [:/].

Let's hope gas goes down to 2.70 where I get gas too be able too hit SF
