Friday Deer Creek Freeze float
#1
I really need to get my pedal pontoon on the water again before the soft stuff is completely gone.

Assuming Deer Creek is still open water, I'm planning on an 9AM-ish Friday launch up there.... probably from the Island marina.

I'll be taking my fly and spinning rods but my focus will probably be more on the toon than the fishing.

Much of a hike? I could be interested. Second thought, Friday is the coldest day of the week....I may wait till Sat.

I'm seriously considering it with the pontoon (and lots of warm clothing). Assuming the water edge is still open, should be able to drive down the ramp and drop in.

Hike? I don't hike.

I get my stuff prepped at the top of the ramp then drive it all down to the edge of the water and unpack all my stuff then park... just as if I were launching any other boat craft.

Well... except I usually beach the toon beside the ramp while I park instead of tying up at the dock.

That's what I'm thinking. Shouldn't be any colder than ice fishing Wink

I am planning on it. I will be making a run by there early Thursday to ensure there won't be an ice issue.

Unless the ice stops me, I'm a go.

I would be down, but I won't be in Utah until Sunday. I will be hitting the hard deck Christmas Eve with a ton of munchkins.

The weather report for tomorrow looks about as good as I could expect for late December at Deer Creek so I'm definitely a GO for tomorrow.

I plan to launch from the Island Park Marina about 9AM.

My focus will be more on the pedal toon than fishing but hopefully the fish disturb my testing some too!

I made it to work at the mouth of Parleys this morning going 35 mph. It is still snowing. IF I were already up there I would definitely be out fishing, but at this point and the roads....Sat or Sun.

Fortunately the storm seemed to end at the Point of the Mountain.... Utah County got almost nothing out of it.

Looking at the Island Park launch ramp with the camera, there's no snow on it!

The camera looks like there's just a dusting of snow on the ramp and a very slight ripple on the water. I'm packing up to hit Deer Creek -- Island Park Marina.

Estimated "Feet Wet" 9AM.

I made it back from the DC test this morning. It was a bit snowy at launch at 9AM, but 37 degrees and sunny when I quit at 11:30.

Then I drove down the hill and it was 26 degrees and snowing in Orem.

I caught 3 planter bows... but had fun on the pedal toon.

You da man! I like the video on the Tubin. You got yourself a paddle boat. Wish I could have joined you but I was on walk clear up and that ice made it tough.
What the heck is that yellow pole? Looks like an Eagle Claw spinning rod with a fly reel?
