We made our first ice fishing trip up to the berry this morning. Got to the marina parking lot around 0830 and there were over a dozen groups on the ice already. We iced 7 cutts and 3 bow before the wind picked up after lunch and we called it a day. Fished just one spot west of the ramp in 35 feet of water. Most of the fish were caught between 10 and 20 ft. Picked one cutt up off the bottom and during the morning we watched several cutts pass just a few feet under the hole.

Measured the ice at 6 inches and it was solid and clear. Road to the marina is getting some deep snow in places so until it gets plowed those without 4WD could find it exciting in spots!

Thanks for the report. The expression on the boys face is how I feel evertime I hit the ice, but pulling out a nice fish like that is always a great bonus.

What lures were hot for you?

Thanks for the report and pic...to see those ear to ear grins make these kind of trips worth it.

A two inch chartreuse with glitter tube caught the most, then pearl white tube and pearl white cutter bug. We were tipping with chub meat and night crawlers.
