Caught monster cutt at strawberry
#1
Decided to go out with one with of my fishing buddies this morning along with my 2 brothers and 3 nephews (all of which have never ice fished). We were able to have 11 poles out at once which was quite the chore. The fishing was slow. We were on the Soldier Creek side fishing the east shore.

We got on the ice by 7 and left around 11. We only landed 3 rainbows and 2 cutts, but one was real privilege to land. We drilled a dozen holes and dropped in two poles quickly. I landed a little rainbow within seconds and soon thereafter my buddy yelled that he needed my help.

I ran over and immediately saw some color and realized it was the biggest cutt I had seen in person.

After a 5 minute struggle, we landed a 27 inch 7 lb cutt on a green jig head and a waxie. Ill try to post the video on youtube as well. Enjoy the pics.

Quite the rush for all of us!

Wow...nice fish!

Were you fishing by the primitive launch? How thick was the ice? Thanks!

You may be right, DuckDog, the biggest Cutthroat I have caught in the Berry has been on that side as well; on ice off. 27 1/2 inch fish.

My brother caught a 29" last year through the ice at night over there, too.

Both were sent back, and hopefully are on chub eradication duties still.
