Not new, just changed my user name, formerly fishindaddy.
We fished deer creek last week in the middle of the day, and this week in the morning. Both times out past the island crowd in several areas between the island and far shoreline. Depth ranged from 30 to 40ft. Last week there were some big cracks letting water out on the ice and some open water over on the railroad side, ice was 6". This week all the spots have froze over and the snow has melted and froze making it 8" and much easier to get off the ice this afternoon than last week. Fishing was not fast, but constant for rainbow between 12" and 17" both weeks at 15ft down. On my second rod I've been using a red rattl’n flyer spoon tipped with a piece of chub on the bottom searching for perch. Last week I caught two rainbow off the bottom at 35ft with it, and one brown that was 16". This week we got lucky and happened to get right on top of a few perch in 40ft of water. Kept getting small hits on the rattl’n flyer spoon and finally hooked one. Then my son and I both put down a little rat finkie with a piece of chub and got a few more. There is still an area of open water right at the mouth of the Wallsburg arm.
