Rockport or Strawberry for tomorrow?
#1
Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forums and Utah and could really use some help. I'm not a Trout fisherman but would like to start. I'm going fishing tomorrow at either Rockport or Strawberry and have NEVER fished either lake and REALLY don't want to get skunked lol. What lake should I go to? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Since no body has responded yet.... My two cents is probably worth about that much. It sounds like you are wanting to target mainly trout. I'm not going to tell you where to go, because I don't target trout for ice fishing. I like perch/crappie type fishing through the ice. If in fact you are wanting trout, take the time to read the recent posts. It will give you a pretty good idea on where you should go. Good luck and let us know how your day went. I wish I could be of more help.

I'm bettin' you could do pretty well at Deer Creek. Just go from Heber City to the first state park. If you go out about 100 to 150 yd. from the shore and fish down about 10 to 15 ft., you'll catch some pretty nice trout. Use a small white and /or pink jig with a small piece of nightcrawler or a wax worm. If you watch it go down the hole, you'll be just about the right depth when it goes out of sight. They'll come by is loose schools about every 30 min.

Thanks for the tips guys!

I went to Rockport today and didn't do so well... Maybe I'll try Deer Creek next weekend. Thanks again.
