[left]Hit the hard water at Deer Creek about 8 this morning. Temp was 9 degrees but it was a beautiful day. No smog, lots of sun and not clouds. Once the sun came up it was warm and comfortable. There were three adults and a 4 year old in our group. I hooked a nice 17" bow in about 14' of water and the 4 year old had a ball landing it. I was using a pink jig tipped with a meal worm. One of my partners hooked two bows using a light orange jig with wax worms and the youngster iced those also. One other partner landed a nice fat 15' bow using a light orange jig with a waxie also. The 4 year old had a ball catching the fish. We only saw one other fish landed while we were there.
Great day to be on the hardwater and not in the gunk of the city

I was there also this morning. bad luck the last two trips with only one fish caught.
Today me and a friend went way away from everyone and the bite started about 9am and by 10;30 we had our limit and left.
Got one 17 inches and two 16" and the rest were smaller. from 8-9am no hits at all. moved to a rocky point and away from the shore in 26 feet and started using a white Tube Jig tipped with Salmon&Garlic PB mixed. Down 12-15 foot and that was the ticket.
Meal worm and nightcrawers got zero hits but, I notice they start biting around 9 usually anyway.
My Green and pink got no love today either.

We were in Rainbow Bay. Saw lots of fish in the finder between the ice and 4 ft. Some right on the bottom. Nest time I go I will try your super formula.

Does anyone know if you need to get an envelope (money fee) at the state park at deer creek first if you decide to park at that dirt lot of highway 189 just before you get to the Wallsburg turn off, and hike down to the edge?

You only have to pay if you enter the developed fee areas. The pull out areas along the lake are not fee areas but they may have fenced off the area that is next to the Wallsberg turn off. The next two pull outs on your way towards the dam are closer to the water anyways.
