I went today, Sunday. Edges were fine on the north end. The ice has slushed over and re-frozen. So you have 3 inches of snow, an inch of ice, 2-3 inches slush then 12 inches good ice. I would assume by Friday the ice will be in the same condition. It is supposed to get a little colder. By the end of the day, 1:30 pm, my 230 pounds was pushing through the top layer about every 6th step.

The fishing was not as good as last week. We targeted perch in about 20 feet of water. But, we managed over 100 in 3 hours between 3 of us. I would blame the full moon.

The wind nearly blew our tent off the ice, even with all 4 sides and corners staked. That was the reason we left early. Be prepared for wind. This was our 3rd trip. Solid wind everytime.

Exactly what he said. Slush wasn't too bad but I did start to punch through by the afternoon. We fished the south side and didn't do as well. About sixty perch and a bunch of dink rainbows. Kept my kids happy. I had to take my shelter down for the wind and it still blew away. Chased it a good hundred yards. It is a sled based tent and it had all my gear on it as it blew away. Scared the snot out of my kids. Was still warm even with the nasty wind. If it warms at all the slush has a chance to get bad.
