Utah Lake 2/16
#1
We had to wear our waders to get on the ice by the pump house due to the few feet of open water around the edges. Surprisingly there was no slush or water on the ice but it was really slippery. The ice was about 12" thick everywhere I put a hole. Fished for a couple of hours until a bad windstorm almost stole the tent. It was out first time to utah lake and we had trouble finding water deeper than 7' so we didn't so well. But it looks like the ice will stick around long enough for a few more tries.

You can look a LONG time at UL for water deeper than 7'. It think most folks go for structure.

If you were drilling through 12" I guess my hope that I'd have a boat on the lake Saturday is still a bit too optimistic.

That's what I've been hearing. Wish I would've known that earlier! There was a decent bit of open water in one of the bays but yeah it seems like it might be a while before getting a boat on.

There appears to be a large open area of water on UL running in the center of the lake it runs about half the width of the lake between Provo and Saratoga Springs. the harbors though are likely socked in for a bit longer.
