I was just wondering if anyone has heard or has any info as far as the boat launches are concerned in the challis area? Still ice blocking them? I read the catch rates on the idfg website and looks like some fish are being caught, so I'm assuming a lot of the ice has washed out.
My dad grew up up there and was there 2 weeks ago and it didn't look like it would be open for a while, but this weather must have done some damage to it.
Thank you for any info!

After 40 years of seeing IDFG's "catch rates", I'm of the firm opinion that the only "catch rate" that I can believe are mine, and those I fish with.....

On the other hand, as soon as Deadwater goes out, some of those steelies can be in the Challis area in a matter of days. I've had double-digit days below Challis within a week of Deadwater going out.....

Yeah, I agree with you there. Just figured that the fact that they had checked a few people meant there was some open water in the area. I've been up there when the "catch rates" look great on paper, and the fishing is poor and other times where the report is bad and I've done well.
I usually don't make it up until mid to late march, but was thinking I might go up this weekend.
