Taking scouts to East Canyon this weekend.
Two months ago when we planned this camp, we hoped to ice fish. Now I am seeking any reports on ice-off fishing. Information such as how far the ice is from the bank, bait, jigs, lures, techniques that are working best, etc. Any information would be helpful. Hoping to get some young boys hooked on fishing!

I was just up there Monday. Lake level is rising and there is open water from the bank to the ice. Appears to be enough water to fish to the edge of the ice now. I wouldn't venture onto the ice at all. It won't be long before ice off completely.

There is some major cracking in the ice and appears the wind has been been playing havoc with breaking it up as ice is starting to pile up some.

Fished it Saturday evening and sunday. There are plenty of spots to fish from the shore as the ice has pulled off pretty well already. Use purple and rainbow power bait 1 to 3 feet off the bottom... and if your like me and have to be doing something flip 2.5 inch tube jigs in green or silver and blue let it sink and slow pop it back to you or cast out a Jakes lure and bring it back. Caught lots of fish and kids had a blast. Hope this helps.
