Howdy,
This is my first post on Big Fish so thanks for having me!
I was wondering if anyone out there has been targeting large or small mouth bass? I know it is a bit early, but with the temperature rising this past week I was wondering if anyone has had any luck?
I have tried Holmes Creek a few times in the last week or so, with no luck. However, the rainbow bite has been pretty good up there. But I am really itching for a LM bite! I am not bound to that pond at all and would go anywhere the bass are biting, but I have had success there the past few years for LMB.
I am not looking to creep in on anyone's action. Again, I am just wondering because there aren't too many posts about bass specifically, at least not yet.
Thanks!

It's still a little to cold for the bass. I've heard of that people catching a few at mantua or utah lake but other then that no words of bass till late May or beginning ofJune.

The lakes are definitely starting to warm up down south....
Bass are starting to eat a little....
The further you drive south the better the fishing gets.
Drop me a PM and happy to give you more insight

I forgot about the south [laugh]. For sure Sand Hallow or Lake powell doing pretty good right now but probably still in the deep water.

The smallies were really active yesterday at rockport. I caught a couple off the dam with a crayfish colored curly tail. This warm weather has moved them into the shallows.

I drove to an undisclosed location yesterday and started fishing at 5:15pm. Landed 11 LMB, missed a few, snapped a line on a decent one...
I know, I'm a jerk: I won't share where I was fishing. But I want to send encouragement that there ARE bass biting if you are diligent.

I was at the same place as Pharticus, I caught 15. I'm not sure what the weather on Sunday will do to the bite though.
One tip for you is to fish late in the day on warm, stable days. Fishing didn't really turn on for me until 4 or 5.

Yes bass are biting up north. I've been catching them since mid March just a little after ice off. Just have to match your presentation to the conditions and try to find a good warming spell to help out. My kids and I caught quite a few today in a northern lake that even had some spawners doing their thing.
