Ya, a couple of years ago one of my fishing buddies caught a rainbow out of Willard. I guess a few get in there from the Ogden and Weber rivers. I wouldn't expect to see too many in there. I would guess any small trout will get gobbled up by the walleye or wipers. That 21 incher was probably just too big to be eaten by the predators.
Seems like there are a few that get caught out of there every year.

Thanks for posting your report Chuck, sounds like you got in on the tail end of the action before the next cold front shuts them down. Yea, like Elkoholic said, every spring you hear about one or two anglers catching a trout out of Willard. I talked to a guy last week that had caught a trout there but 21" is the largest I've heard of anyone catching.

It took a chrome and blue thin fin off a side planer and I seen it jumping way back and I thought what the heck was that. I was way surprised to see a rainbow trout.
fishing was a little slow but 2 walleye, 3 wipers, 1 trout and about 5 other missed hits for 6 hours.

What area were you fishing? It was hot fishing Sat and Sun, sounds like you got in on the tail end of the bite. I'm hoping it picks up again by this weekend but you just never know, this time of the year.

Three years ago I caught a 19” rainbow out of Willard too. I always thought the rainbows out of Strawberry had bright red meat until I filleted that guy. Blood red meat and very flavorful!! I was surprised to say the least.
