Fun Day at DC yesterday
#1
My father and I were scheduled to take a couple of the grandkids fishing yesterday, but the weather report convinced them to change plans.

It was COLD for most of the morning up there.

The two of us had a great day. We caught 32 fish. 30 rainbows. The first fish of the day was a 14" Walleye.

Fishing the first 90 minutes was brisk. We caught the first 20 before the sun hit the water. It slowed down for the last 2 hours we were on the lake (we were off the water by 11AM).

We caught the story fish at about 10AM trolling back across the lake toward the Island marina.

The fish hit a leaded line trolling pole and bent it all the way parallel to the boat. I had a hard time getting it out of the pole holder and we ended up stopping the boat.

When we stopped the boat and my father started reeling the entire boat began moving sideways (40hp 15' bayhawk).

We knew we had a very large SOMETHING on the line. I reeled in all the other lines and put the boat back in gear to keep it pointed in the right direction. My father was slowly bringing the fish closer.

We get it to the surface after about a 15 minute fight and its a Big Nasty 26" Carp!

We had a good laugh about that one.

By the way, aside from being unseasonably cold (upper 30's) until about 9:30AM, the weather was great at DC. Very little wind and now rain.

When we left it was a comfortable 53 degrees and the lake was glassy.

At the base of Provo canyon it was 55 degrees and blowing like crazy.

Something told me it was a carp!

Sounds like a great early session on DC.

Ha ha I know just how you feel. I hooked a huge carp up there ice fishing once, and still tell the story. It sounds like you guys had a really fun day at DC.
