Trip to Lake Powell
#1
Fished Powell this last week. Bite was a little slow, but we managed to catch Smallmouth, Largemouth, Walleye, and a few Stripers.

The wind made it difficult some of the days, but we got one really good day Thursday and made a day trip with two fishing boats, from our houseboat in Bullfrog marina to Iceberg and surrounding area. The fishing was a little faster and the conditions ideal.

Others probably already know, but I mainly wanted to report that entering Bullfrog, the NPS didn't check much on where we had been with the boats, but gave us a piece of paper with the instructions dealing with the mussels found in Powell.

Basically, the instruction simply state to decontaminate your boat yourself, or have it professionaly done. This is the standard thing to do for any water you have been in.

We simply drove out of the Park without anyone asking or checking anything about our boat.

This surprised me because I thought they would either require every boat to be professionaly decontaminated or at least discuss doing it yourself or making you drain in board engines, livewells, etc..

This is an honor code system that I don't think will work to keep the quagga mussels from spreading to other waters. Just my opinion.
