]Just a quick report on Starvation yesterday. Weather was great (sunny) ... light wind ... water temp 46 deg ... clear water mid lake and slightly colored back in bays. Arrived about 7:30am and on water before 8:00. Only one other boat on entire lake. Had the lake to ourselves. Later in afternoon saw two tubers over in Rabbit Gulch.
Started at Saltarius (sp?) with 2 bottom bouncers and 2 divers at about 20'. Used orange spinners with no luck. Changed to orange and chartruse and picked up a beautiful eye but lost him at the boat. Easily over 20". Not much action for 20 mins so changed spinners to green and crystal. BANG! Fantastic bite for the next 4 hours with 18" bows. Didn't keep count, but probably 30 to 40. Released all. Two more eyes we kept for the pan.
About 12:00p headed over to Rabbit Gulch for a change of scenery. No action on bouncers. Needed to change colors, so went back to the divers with orange and picked up a 21" bow at back of gulch. Kept him for dinner.
All fish caught in 15 to 20'. Pulled out at 2:00p and stopped to talk with Ranger Spencer and let him know what we found today. Invited him out on a future trip, but he said the State doesn't allow fishing on the clock. I replied that should be a requirement of the job and I think it should be.
Good fishing to all of you. Here's a pick of my fishing buddy with two of the three we kept ...
