Just wondered if anybody has recomendations on an easy access area at Strawberry? I was planning on taking my 3 and 5 year old girls with me. I am not looking for trophies, but would love to get them some planter bows.
Thansk for any ideas/help.

The ladders have always been good to me. Easy access too.

Plus one on Hawes point. Biggest thing at the Berry from shore is snags, but Hawes isnt too bad. You can get the kids into some rainbows on pooh-bait or floating a worm off the bottom. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions and the PM's about a few areas to try. We ended up on the Soldier Creek side yesterday from about 11:30 - 2:00.
Got the old skunk [frown]
Craziest thing I have seen at strawberry though. Lots of fishing swimming in the shallows about 30 feet from shore. You could see them swimming by, and I could not get them to turn to anything. They were actively feeding on a hatch of some kind, but the wind made identifying the bug hard to do. About the time my kids were ready to go some of the fish started to hit the surface.
Whish I had brought the fly rod, I think we would have had a little better luck. But who knows.

Bummer on that...seems like sometimes if there is a heavy hatch at the berry, the fish can get lockjaw. Maybe they had enough to eat and werent interested in your offerings. I was up there sunday and saw a fair amount of midges hatching, maybe thats what you saw.
Better luck next time! I think some of the bank fishers up there float up their baits with a plastic bubble filled with water.
