Float Tubing @ Lake Powell?
#1
I don't know how many folks have ever taken a tube to Lake Powell but it can be a lot of fun. The best part is you don't need waders.
I fished south of Wahweap using fly tackle. I know there are some people saying "what was he on?" Our family has been coming down here for close to thirty years and spending a week on a house boat. If you've been to Lake Powell with a bunch of kids and grandkids for a whole week, believe me, you need to find something to get you off the boat. I never have caught a lot of fish and none have been very big, other than the carp, but it is still fun. This year I fished for a total of four hours using a fast sinking line and various green and tan colored crystal buggers. The water temperature was 68-70 degrees and the visibility in the water was about 10'-12'. The best fishing was in 20'-40' of water. I picked up a few bluegill, smallmouth, carp, and stripers. The largest fish was a six pound carp and an 18" striper. The trick at LP is finding the fish. Once you find them they are pretty easy to catch.
The black spot in the pictures is not a ufo but a speck of dust that the camera sucked in on the sensor. [Wink] I have had to clean it several times.
Get out and go fishing while there is still water.[fishin]
