went to DU derby last week, what a great derby.Caught lots of fish and the derby did great things for all the kids who won nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be nice to see more people to enter I think this is a great derby that we all should look at!!!!!!!!I'v had bad luck with the way buckboard derby is run.And its time for a change great prizes and they use a rolling barrel to pick winners for drawings.Just my thoughts been fishing the flaming gorge derby's for 14 years this one needs to be considered.
THINK ABOUT IT

I agree with you kokeking..........There's way to many open water fishing derbys at the Flaming Gorge. Seems like every other weekend there's a derby. Lucerne Derby, Buckboard Classic, & the Ducks Unlimited Derby all within about a 6 week time span and who's know what other derby's will be held in the coming weeks this summer. I believe if Ducks Unlimited wants a derby then go hunt/shoot ducks and leave the fish alone in the Gorge.

One of the issues with the DU derby for us Northern folk is there is no place to weight in a fish. We have to go in to docks or where ever, get in a car drive to Lucerene to weight. That is a big pain, not to mention shrinkage on the fish and lost fishing time. Just my 2 cents worth.

Up until last Friday,I have never heard of DU having a derby on the gorge. Then I found out that this year was their third year for this derby.
Wyoguy brings up a very good point. Why didn't du have a weight in station at somewhere on the northern end of the lake(anvil draw, squaw hollow,BB) Sound like this derby was catering to the fishermen that were on the southern end,and not very well put together.i suspect that this may have kept more people from entering this derby also.

I think total weight payouts is bad paying 20 places is bull to many fish killed. At the DU derby you get a text every hour so you always know the winning weight.I always carry a scale so i can release light fish!! If you like go to ducks unlimited derby flaming gorge you may have to click on a few but the rules and pay out is still there.I had my 16 year old son win $600 dollars and i had to fight to get it for him.
Got to take care of the kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
