Boating at upper stillwater
#1
Anyone been up there lately? Is it true we have to wait for the water to drop before launching? I read on ksl 8157'? I am trying to decide on Causey or Stillwater this week with the Portabote. Thanks.

Since I do not want to chance being denied entrance at Stillwater Causey it will be. I plan on trolling for trout. It anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. I will give a report when I come back.

Did you contact the forest service office in Duchesne?

Called them. They said open but didn't sound too authoritative.

This article says otherwise.

Elevation is over 8157' I believe.....but dropping. I can wait.

Causey is a tough one to fish unless you have lead core line or down riggers. I guess you know you will have to hand carry your portaboat down to the water? Use the normal small trout or kokanee lures. If you have a fish finder that will help you figure out what depth the fish are at. I have always done better for trout in the back two arms of the lake, for the kokes I have done better near the dam and around the Causey estates arm of the lake. Good luck

I have never seen the ramp even though I stayed at the campground and hiked to the inlet before. How is the ramp? How long is it?

I have never been to upper stillwater. Don't want to make the 100 mile drive and get turned away. I'm going to Causey. Hope the trout are not too deep. I have no downriggers. Deepdiving cranks yes. I am good with carrying the boat. Water can't be much above 60 degrees right?
